This guide explains how to find the GPS (Global Positioning System) coordinates for your Tactacam DEFEND camera using the DEFEND app, or view its live location on a map using the REVEAL app.
Prerequisites
A Tactacam DEFEND camera with an active Cellular Signal connection.
A smartphone or mobile device with the DEFEND app or REVEAL app installed.
Active TactaID account login credentials.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Finding GPS Coordinates in the DEFEND App
Open the DEFEND App: Launch the app on your mobile device and log in with your TactaID credentials.
Select Your Camera: From the Home screen, tap on the specific DEFEND camera you wish to locate.
Open Device Details: Tap See Device Information (or Camera Details) to open the camera status page.
Locate Coordinates: Scroll down to view the latitude and longitude GPS (Global Positioning System) coordinates. Note: The DEFEND app does not display a visual map interface; it displays numerical coordinates only.
Viewing Camera Location on a Map in the REVEAL App
Open the REVEAL App: Launch the REVEAL app on your mobile device.
Add Your DEFEND Camera: Tap the menu option to add a camera, then scan or enter your DEFEND camera details using your TactaID account.
Access the Map Interface: Once connected and synced with satellite GPS, navigate to the Map tab within the REVEAL app.
View Camera Position: Your DEFEND camera location will display directly as a pin on the interactive map.
Troubleshooting / LED Guide
GPS Coordinates Missing or Blank: Ensure your camera is outdoors under an open sky with an active Cellular Signal. If the camera is indoors or under heavy canopy during initial power-up, satellite sync may delay.
Camera Not Showing on Map (REVEAL App): Verify that the camera has completed its first cellular transmission. The GPS unit must acquire satellite position data before transmitting location coordinates to the app.
Disabling GPS: The GPS (Global Positioning System) hardware feature on the DEFEND camera is permanently enabled for security and tracking purposes and cannot be turned off.
Status Light Indicators: A solid green cellular indicator light confirms a strong network connection required to transmit updated GPS data to your account.
