Summary:
This article provides information on mounting and operating your Solar Panel R5.
MOUNTING
- Adjust the angle of the holder so that the solar panel is facing the sun directly (True South). However, please note the ideal orientation depends on the specific situation of the setup site.
- Attach the solar panel to the tree with the included Tree Strap.
NOTE: The side that connects with the power cable must face down to prevent water damage in case of rain.
CONNECTING
Plug one side of the power cable into the output socket (which is on the right side of the solar panel), then plug the other end into your REVEAL trail camera. If the solar panel’s inner lithium battery is charged, the camera will be powered immediately.
ATTENTION:
If the solar panel is connected to a Tactacam REVEAL camera, it is strongly recommended that batteries–either AA or rechargeable–be installed inside the camera (even when connected with the solar charger), otherwise, during intense use periods, the camera may not have sufficient power to operate.
Never use the solar panel in parallel connection with any other power sources. Any damage resulting from this incorrect usage will not be covered by the warranty.
CHARGING
Completely charge the solar panel for 4-5 hours using the included USB-C charging cable before use.
The charging indicator will be illuminated when the panel’s internal battery is charged. Green flashing lights mean the panel is being charged. When all four lights turn green, the solar panel is fully charged.
Battery Indicator:
To determine charge level, press the button on the back of the panel. 4 LEDs indicate 76%–100% power, 3 LEDs indicate 51%–75% power, 2 LEDs indicate 26%–50% power, and 1 LED indicates up to 25% power.
NOTE: Please fully charge the battery at least once every three months, particularly when the panel is in long-term storage.
