Settings Not Saving Or Reverting:
If you're changing settings in the REVEAL app, but they don't seem to "stick" or they revert back, this guide will walk you through the most common solutions.
This issue is most often caused by one of three things:
- The changes aren't being applied correctly in the app.
- The SD card is incompatible, full, or corrupted.
- The camera has the incorrect SIM card.
Let's start with the simplest solution first.
Step 1: Make Sure You're Applying Settings Correctly
The most common reason for this issue is that the "Apply Settings" button wasn't pressed. Please follow these steps exactly to ensure your changes are being sent to the camera.
- Open the REVEAL app.
- From the home screen, tap the Camera icon in the bottom menu.
- Find the camera you want to adjust and tap to the right of the camera name on the icons.
- Select "Camera Settings".
- Make your desired changes (e.g., change picture delay, resolution, etc.).
- This is the most important step: Scroll to the bottom and tap the "Apply Settings" button to save and send the new commands to your camera.
If you are following these steps and the settings still revert, move on to Step 2.
Step 2: Check Your SD Card
For legacy REVEAL models, an incompatible or corrupted SD card is the most common hardware cause for settings failing to save.
Required SD Card Specifications
Your SD card must meet all of the following requirements:
- Type: Full-Size SD Card (Micro-SD cards with adapters are not supported).
- Class: Class 10
- Speed: U3
- Capacity: 16GB or 32GB (no larger or smaller).
- Recommended Brands: Tactacam, SanDisk Extreme, SanDisk Extreme Pro, Lexar, or Herd360 Elite Pro.
- Brands to Avoid: PNY, HME, ONN, and other low-quality or unlisted brands are not compatible and will cause camera issues.
SD Card Maintenance
- Do Not Swap Cards: We do not recommend swapping SD cards between different cameras, as this can cause file-writing errors.
- Replace as Needed: SD cards do not last forever. If your card is old or showing errors, it may need to be replaced.
Step 3: Reformat Your SD Card
If your SD card meets the specs above, its file system may be corrupted. Formatting will erase all data and restore it to a clean state.
Important: Save Your Files! Formatting ERASES ALL photos and videos from the SD card. Please save any files you want to keep to your computer or phone before you proceed.
