It is strongly recommended that your REVEAL X-Pro has at least 4 battery bars displayed before attempting a firmware update using this method. Losing power during the update process can lead to severe damage, rendering your camera inoperable. Recovery may only be possible by a certified REVEAL camera technician at our repair facility. Use fresh, fully charged batteries for this process.
Perform the Optional X-Pro Firmware Update:
- What to do: If you've forgotten the password on your REVEAL X-Pro camera, the only way to resolve it is by performing the optional firmware update.

How to do it:
- Locate the firmware update files: Visit the official Tactacam Reveal support website and navigate to the downloads section for the REVEAL X-Pro. Download the latest firmware update file.
- Prepare the SD card: Ensure you have a full-size 32GB, Class 10, U3 SD card. Format the SD card using your computer (FAT32 format is usually required).
- Transfer the firmware file: Drag/Copy the files over to your SD Card drive.
- Insert the SD card into the camera: Power off your REVEAL X-Pro and insert the SD card containing the firmware update file into the camera's SD card slot.
- Initiate the firmware update:

- Ensure your REVEAL X-Pro camera is powered ON.
- If an SD card is currently installed in your camera, remove it and replace it with the SD card containing the new firmware update file.
- Press the Right Arrow button to open the Main Menu.
- Press the Right Arrow button three times to navigate to the "More" menu.
- Press the Down Arrow button three times to highlight "Camera FW Update".
- Troubleshooting Tip: If you cannot highlight "Camera FW Update," it indicates that the firmware file was not correctly loaded onto the SD card. Double-check that the file is in the root directory and that the file name matches the example on the support website (without any extra numbers appended).
- Press the Right Arrow button to enter the "Camera FW Update" section.
- Press the Left Arrow button to select "Yes".
- Press the OK/Enter button to begin the firmware update process.
Wait for the Update to Complete:
- Do NOT turn the camera OFF while the update is in progress.
- Once the update is complete, the camera will automatically power off and then back on.
If the Camera does not Power the screen on. You can try these steps to do the Update without the screen on:
Updating with the Camera Powered OFF:
1. Ensure your REVEAL X-Pro camera has at least 4 bars of battery strength.
* WARNING: Updating firmware with fewer than 4 battery bars can lead to power loss during the process, potentially rendering your camera inoperable. Recovery may only be possible by a certified REVEAL camera technician.
2. If an SD card is currently in your camera, remove it and replace it with the SD card containing the new firmware files.
3. Hold down the Up Arrow button.
4. While holding the Up Arrow button, power the camera ON.
5. DO NOT turn the camera OFF while the update is in process.
6. The message "Updating Firmware" will appear on the screen.
7. The camera will restart automatically once the update is complete.
