REVEAL XB: Setting up your Camera

Step 1: Install the Antenna

  1. Locate the antenna in your REVEAL XB box.
  2. Screw the antenna clockwise into the antenna port on the top of your camera.
    • Important Note: Do not overtighten the antenna. Once it feels secure, stop tightening to prevent damage to the antenna port.

Step 2: Install the SD Card

Your camera requires an SD card to store photos and videos.

  1. Obtain a Class 10, U3 SD card with a 32GB capacity.
    • Recommended Brands: For optimal performance and reliability, we recommend using SanDisk, Lexar, or Tactacam SD cards.
  2. Locate the SD card slot on your REVEAL XB camera.
  3. Insert the SD card into the slot until it clicks securely into place.

Tip: Always format your SD card in the REVEAL App before first use and periodically thereafter.

Step 3: Install the AA Batteries

Proper battery installation is crucial for your camera's power.

  1. Locate the battery tray on your REVEAL XB.
  2. Press the EJECT button on the REVEAL to release and slide out the battery tray.
  3. Insert 12 AA batteries into the tray.
    • Orientation: Carefully observe the '+' and '-' markings on both the front and back of the battery tray and ensure each battery is oriented correctly.
    • Recommendation: While standard AA batteries can be used, lithium-ion AA batteries are highly recommended, especially in colder temperatures, for extended battery life and reliable performance.
  4. Slide the loaded battery tray back into the camera until it clicks securely into place.

Step 4: Understanding Your SIM Card

Your REVEAL XB comes with a cellular SIM card, which is essential for its cellular capabilities.

  • Pre-installed or Separate: For cameras with a dual/multi-carrier SIM, the card may or may not be pre-installed at the factory.
  • Multi-SIM Cameras: If your camera package includes two SIM cards, this allows you the flexibility to select the carrier (e.g., AT&T or Verizon) that offers the strongest signal in your camera's deployment area during activation.
  • Important SIM Pairing Note: SIM cards are exclusively paired to a specific camera during manufacturing. Please do not remove, swap, or attempt to replace your camera's SIM card with a different one. Doing so will prevent your camera from connecting to the network.

Step 5: Camera Activation

Once you have completed the above physical setup steps, the activation of your REVEAL XB camera is conveniently performed through the REVEAL mobile app during the initial setup process. The app will guide you through selecting your plan and activating your cellular service.
